Further proof that the majority of Eastmoreland homeowners do not want a historic district exists in the number of letters of objection or support sent to the state (SHPO).
Over 1000 notarized statements of objection have been filed, while only 300 letters of support have been sent. These letters indicate by a ratio of 3 to 1 that Eastmoreland residents do not want a HD. These numbers echo the results of a neighborhood vote on the historic district, where the majority voted against forming a historic district.
Unfortunately, due to the bizarre rules set by the NPS (National Park Service), it doesn’t matter how few people actually want a historic district, only that over half of the homeowners register opposition against it.
No wonder Eastmoreland neighbors are so upset!
At this time, the number of letters in opposition are slightly below the 50% threshold but Eastmorelanders continue to send in their objections.
If you'd like to join your neighbors to pause this unfair process, here's what you can do.
